The Shame Of Transport For London : Party To A Nationwide Illegal Trade

Again, we see TfL registered private hire vehicles, using the Uber App to do local pick ups and drop offs, many miles from the area they're licensed to work in.


We've seen TfL registered vehicles working the streets of Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Bristol, Luton, Portsmouth, Oxford Reading and many more.
We've recently seen complaints from licensed Hackney Carriage drivers in Southend, that some local drivers -who have lost their Southend Council issued licenses over criminal activities- have been spotted driving London TfL registered Uber cars in Southend. 

Over this weekend, we've been informed that London TfL registered cars are not only working the Uber app, they are illegally touting, working off the local Leigh on-Sea ranks. 

When confronted, the Uber drivers become extremely aggressive and threaten violence.

Last week, we saw drivers in Liverpool surround a TfL registered Uber and escort it onto the motorway, in the direction of London. 

Ironically, we were later informed that the driver actually lives in Liverpool, but found it easier to get his PH licence and his vehicle licensed in London. 


TfL refuse to get involved in these issues and have turned a complete blind eye to this scandalous behaviour from Uber drivers, saying its a problem for the local councils affected. 

It's only a matter of time before tempers reach breaking point and violence becomes common place. 

TfL are now protecting their stakeholders (Uber) business model, by refusing to answer a Freedom of Information Request asking for the actual number of drivers licensed by TfL registered with Uber, saying that this information would be commercially sensitive.

Why would I expect TfL to deal with this below -spotted in Sheffield- if they can't deal with them on their own doorstep.

Throughout the UK thousands of unregulated Uber drivers have been improperly licensed by Transport for London and are operating illegally, putting the Public at risk.
Customers personal security is compromised and road users are exposed to dangerous driving and accidents causing serious injuries and deaths.
Towns and Cities are gridlocked with congestion which is causing toxic air pollution (putting drivers,cyclists and pedestrians at risk) which has increased because Transport for London have issued thousands of Private Hire Licenses to Uber drivers without proper background,medical or insurance, checks who then operate illegally throughout the UK,ignoring traffic regulations and road signs causing accidents and traffic chaos.
TFL have made many improper decisions in relation to Taxis and Private Hire including the issuance of 2500 Private Hire Licenses each month without proper checks and the London Taxi Age limit and previous failed emissions strategies which have not complied with Public Law.
TFL is a Public body who receive £11 billion a year in taxpayers money yet are accountable to no one;
There is an urgent need for a Public Inquiry to expose the improper decisions which do not comply with Public Law and have resulted in injuries and deaths. There should be an immediate suspension of TFL Private Hire License Applications and the Uber Operators License pending that Public Inquiry.

This is exactly why we get Brexit & Trump.
Well our day will come, an alternative agenda.

If Uber's license is renewed in may there should be an immediate lock down of the central area.

You can see now what's going on,Tfl are churning out ph licences to collapse the Taxi & proper Ph businesses nationally,out of town drivers will have to become part of our lock down's.

Colin, there is no 'if' at all mate. Uber's Operators licence application WILL be successful. Trust me mate. You watch.

Taxi and proper ph of great Britain need a day of action against tfl by blocking every single airport from Glasgow to Heathrow on same day and every day until public inquiry into tfl

I got a licensed cab from Leigh-on-sea station a few months back to my house and the driver was telling me that 2 guys that used to work for his firm were struck off as had been to prison one for assaulting his partner and the other for a misdemeanour of a sexual nature both sacked and he said both were now in Southend driving for uber.

Lets have a look at what the Local Government Association say in their COuncillors Handbook on Licensing shall we?

Pages 23 & 24

As a councillor you can take some simple steps to ensure that your local authority is not
having a detrimental impact on other authorities and their communities. Ask your taxi and
PHV licensing service whether they have a high enough standard of conditions (see councillor
checklist) and consider where an applicant intends to work when issuing licences. You do have the legal right to refuse to issue a licence if the applicant does not intend to work mainly in your
area and should recognise that the reputational impact to your council of knowingly licensing
taxis to operate elsewhere could severely limit your ability to develop partnership working with
neighbouring authorities.
If you seek to include a section on this in your licensing policy, then it is important to remember that a ‘hackney carriage’ cannot ‘work’ or ‘operate’ as a PHV. The law simply allows them to be used for ‘private hire purposes’. This may sound like semantics, but has been tested in the courts and means that you cannot use your greater power to condition PHV driver licences to regulate the driver of a hackney carriage, even though they may at times be working in the same manner as a PHV driver (ie making pre-booked journeys, rather than plying for hire).
